The weedend off...kind of
Since the weather wasn't looking too good for hay saving I decided to head away off to castlegregory for a bit of surfing and drinking. Myself, Patsie, Conor, Krassh, Shane and the Wig left Ballybrown around six in the funbus and the red peugot. So once the tents were up we started opening a few cans....actually they were well open at this stage. Cupla deochanna later and we headed down to Spillane's to be sociable. I rightly landed my foot in it commenting on the 3 handed boat race the next day by shouting across the bar asking had I to find a one handed person to compete....and at the table next to us was a girl who was missing a hand...of all times and places. Someone was out to get me. Back to the tents we built a fire and stayed drinking until our eyes couldn't stay open any more.
The next morning forgetting where I was I rolled over and squinted as I opened an eye. I was suprised to find myself out in the open air on the beach....alone. I didn't mind at all. I spent an hour nursing my hangover wrapped in my sleeping bag on the beach watching an early riser catching some nice longboarding waves. It was during that hour alone on the beach that I realised that I wanted nothing more than to bum around, sleeping on beaches, surfing by day and canning by night by the fire. All I need is the weather. There is nothing more natural than waking up in the open air by the beach and to wake yourself up, going for a swim in the atlantic ocean. That is heaven to me.
At ten o clock I got a call from home...."come home now, the hay needs to be turned, its a smashing day here"
